Every objection matters. By submitting your own response, you ensure your concerns become part of the official planning process and must be considered by the Local Planning Authority. A well-reasoned objection helps demonstrate the strength of local feeling and highlights the planning issues that matter most to our community.
The Planning Application Has Not Yet Been Submitted
Catesby Estates has announced its intention to promote Land North of Cockreed Lane for residential development. However, a formal planning application has not yet been submitted to Folkestone & Hythe District Council.
The public consultation held by Catesby Estates in 2026 formed part of the pre-application process and has now closed. Once a planning application is submitted, the Council will open a formal public consultation, giving residents the opportunity to submit official comments and objections.
When that happens, we will update this page with the planning application reference, consultation deadline and step-by-step guidance on how to submit an effective objection.
How to Submit an Objection
Once a planning application has been submitted, objecting is straightforward. Follow these four simple steps:

Find the Application
Visit the Folkestone & Hythe District Council Planning Portal and search for the application using the reference number or site address.

Review the Proposal
Read the plans and supporting documents to understand exactly what is being proposed and how it could affect the local area.

Prepare Your Objection
Write your response in your own words, focusing on planning issues such as agricultural land, infrastructure, wildlife, traffic, planning policy and alternative sites. Keep your comments clear, relevant and supported by evidence wherever possible.

Submit Your Response
Complete the online form before the consultation deadline. Once submitted, your comments will become part of the official planning process and will be considered by the Local Planning Authority.

You should normally submit one clear, well-reasoned objection setting out all of your concerns. Submitting multiple objections from the same person does not usually give your views any greater weight.
If new information comes to light during the consultation period, you may be able to submit additional comments or update your original representation. Check the guidance provided by Folkestone & Hythe District Council once the planning application is live.
